Target Audience

MATEC Michigan’s target audience includes all members of the health care community.  We offer free, expert, face-to-face and virtual training, clinical consultation and technical assistance to individuals and agencies across Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas.

HIV Clinical Course for Prescribers

HIV Clinical Course for Prescriber

This course links practicing physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants with recognized clinical experts.  Training includes an interactive didactic session, followed by individualized clinical shadowing opportunities. 


Areas of focus include:

· Risk assessment

· Disease manifestations

· Treatment guidelines

· Comorbidities

· Adherence to treatment

· Side effects and drug interactions

· Psychosocial manifestations

· HIV prevention strategies 


HIV Clinical Course for Nurses

This course helps practicing nurses expand their knowledge about HIV and its co-occurring conditions, and incorporate this knowledge into their practice. Training includes an interactive didactic session, followed by individualized clinical shadowing opportunities.

HIV Clinical Course for Pharmacists

This is an interactive, hands-on course designed to help pharmacists acquire new knowledge about HIV disease and its management .

HIV Clinical Course for Dental Professionals

This course provides the latest knowledge on a wide variety of epidemiological, clinical, and therapeutic issues related to HIV and its co-occurring conditions in dental practice. The HIV Clinical Course for Dental Professionals is provided free of charge to Michigan dental professionals. Continuing education credit is available to participants. The target audience for the course is all dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants licensed to practice in Michigan.
